2009-05-16: Our Bike & Car Show date is set for May 16th with a May 30th rain date. Event planing is in full swing. Our choosen charity is Child Abuse Prevention. The organization is the Child Abuse Prevention Association, aka CAPA, here in Independence. You can find out all about them on thier website www.childabuseprevention.org. This is a local organization supporting a worthy cause so let's all get on board for this event and make it a great one! We will have some real nice trophies for several classes for both cars and bikes, a dinner and live music by Bobbie G and the Mustangs. Watch for more details soon.

2009-03-06: Although attendance to our meetings has been low for the last couple of months, membership keeps climbing. The membership report at the Feburary meeting was 41 but I have been told that we are currently at 48,! This is spectacular considering that part of our mission is to promote the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and to my best count 10 of those members are people who joined to be part of the Eagle Riders. Don't slow down on membership recruiting, large numbers make us strong and give us more opportunity to serve our purpose of "People Helping People".

2009-03-06: The Eagle Riders 385 recieved a $1000 grant from the Grand on our Children's Mercy fundraiser. This brings our total money raised to $3100 for the Neonatal Unit. We will be presenting the funds to Children's Mercy at the Aerie's 106 anniversary party on May 9th.

2009-03-06: f you enjoyed the Rock and R&B sounds of Fictive Kinship at our Christmas party last December you shoud know that they are returning. On February 28th they will be playing at the Aerie again. Let's get out there and give our support to our Aerie and this great band.

2008-11-18: The Penny Wars that is. The prevailing team is the Eagle Riders at 5073 points with the men following at 1937 points. Total net of the project was $154.35. This turned out to be a really fun way to raise money so start saving your pennies, we'll be doing it again. Way to go Riders!

2008-11-18: Come celebrate the holidays with the Eagle Riders on December 13th. Enjoy a Smorgasbord dinner and the classic rock and R&B sounds of Fictive Kinship. Dinner starts at 6:30 (bring a covered dish if you wish), $6/person which includes cover charge for the band. The band plays from 8-12pm, cover charge for the band only will be $3. Sponsored by the Eagle Riders.
On a side note: Thanks to everyone who purchased a West Coast Chopper remote control motorcycle. The Bikes were donated by Roger and Cathy Toms, and all of it went to our holiday party.

2008-11-17: The Riders donated $40 from our General fund to go the Aerie's Christmas basket fund. Thanks go out to Ron Toms and Larry Shirley for donating thier recent winnings from the quarter pot, bringing our total Christmas basket donation close to $100!

2008-11-16: Thanks go out from the Eagle Riders for all the support at the Texas Hold'em benefit for our fallen brother, Scott Muckensturm. Although participation was low we had a great time and we raised over $1300 to help his family with funeral expenses. Congratulations to Trustee Mike Enloe for nabbing 2nd place and a special thank you to those hard working Riders and friends who made it all possible!
